AKA shot dead: Family releases statement

AKA, the award-winning South African has lost his life and the family has now confirmed his passing on in a statement of theirs.

AKA was shot last night around 8pm local time in Durban shortly after leaving a restaurant and was getting ready to perform later that night in what was supposed to be a birthday celebration of his. According to an eyewitness, the decorated south African rapper was shot five (5) times at close range and wasn’t the only one to be hit as a friend he was with also lost his life with his bodyguard in critical condition as some bullets also hit him.

A statement released by the family reads “It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son, and confirms his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of February 10, 2023. We are awaiting further details from the Durban police.”

The statement would then add “To us, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, most importantly father to his beloved daughter Kairo. To many he was AKA, SUPAMEGA, BHOVA and many other names of affection his legion of fans called him by. Our son was loved and gave love in return”

The family would then conclude its statement by asking for privacy to mourn one of their own as well as thanking the fans for their messages of condolence “In this time of grief we appeal for your compassion, space and time to congregate as a family to decide on the upcoming days. We thank you for the love and support we have received thus far and ask you to continue to keep us in your prayers and uplifted in the Lord”
