Public transport users in Ghana are going to enjoy a 10% reduction in fares effective Wednesday 17 May 2023, an official statement announced.

The development follows consistent reductions in the price of fuel, according to the road transport operators in a statement released Monday.

The reduction affects shared taxis, intra-city (trotro), intercity (long distance) and haulage, the statement added.

“In line with the administrative arrangement on public transport fares, the road transport operators have reduced public transport fares by 10% to accommodate for the reduction in the price of petroleum products observed over the period,” the statement said.

The operators have called on commercial transport operators to comply with the new fares and post them at their loading terminals.
