Kingsley Schindler replaces injured Tariq Lamptey for AFCON qualifiers

FC Köln midfielder, Kingsley Schindler has received his first call-up to the senior national team Black Stars, to replace injured Tariq Lamptey.

Tariq, who was part of the Twenty-five man squad that was announced for the doubleheader against Angola has been forced to withdraw.

Schindler, who is yet to be capped by Ghana arrived in Accra on Monday to join the rest of the team for the two crucial matches slated for Kumasi and Luanda respectively.

The 29-year-old spent his youth career at SC Concordia, Hannover 96, and TSG Neustrelitz. In 2013, he transferred to 1899 Hoffenheim II, where he competed in the Regionalliga Südwest.

From 2016, he played for Holstein Kiel. The club achieved promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2017, leading to Schindler’s breakthrough as a professional footballer.

In January 2019, it was announced that Schindler would leave Kiel after the season and signed a contract until 2023 with 1. FC Köln.
