The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor, has been appointed to replace Ken Ofori-Atta as the caretaker of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Abu Jinapor assumes this role on 16th January 2023.

A statement from the Presidency on Friday said the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, will instead assume responsibility for the Trade Ministry.

This comes on the back of the public outrage that greeted the decision to appoint the embattled Finance Minister, Mr. Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Trade and Industry following the resignation of Alan Kyerematen.

Kyerematen, who has had his eye on the presidency, tendered his resignation letter on Thursday 5 January 2023.

He has served as Trade Minister since President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came to power in 2017.

Jinapor, the current Minister of Lands and Natural Resources will take charge of the trade and industry ministry until a substantive minister is appointed.

The Minister for Agric, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto also resigned on January 10 over similar reasons.
