The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a temporary ban on Bofoakwa Tano FC from using the Sunyani Coronation Park as their home venue with immediate effect.

This decision follows the unfortunate incidents that occurred after the Matchday 11 fixture between Bofoakwa Tano FC and Nsoatreman FC on November 19, 2023, during which Nsoatreman coach Maxwell Konadu was attacked, resulting in his hospitalisation.

According to the GFA, this action is in line with the Premier League Regulations Article 14(2), which allows the GFA to order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, match officials, or spectators cannot be guaranteed.

The Competitions Department will determine the venue for Bofoakwa Tano FC’s subsequent home matches, and the Disciplinary Committee will address the case pending further investigation.

The GFA strongly condemns the unacceptable conduct of Bofoakwa Tano FC’s supporters, and the association’s prosecutors will review video evidence and match reports to bring appropriate charges.

The GFA demands the immediate assistance of Bofoakwa Tano FC in causing the arrest of those involved in the attack on the away team and the holding of match officials hostage.

All clubs have been reminded to comply strictly with Safety & Security Regulations and the GFA Disciplinary Code. The GFA warns that any harassment or attack will be dealt with severely and swiftly.
