Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp states that with a win over RB Leipzig in last 16 Champions League, his side surpassed many people’s standards.
In five minutes at the beginning of the second half, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane hit the Puskas Arena in Budapest due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.
It came after the Reds had fallen into three straight Premier League defeats – results that have led Klopp to concede defeat in their defence of the English top-flight title.
However, Tuesday’s presentation was far more like last year’s dominant side with greater experience and consistency against an error-prone German side.
“A lot of people probably expected us to slip again because of the situation, and the boys didn’t and I’m really happy about that,” Klopp told BT Sport.
“It was the game we wanted, the game we needed. Leipzig can be a real monster – they overrun teams, they are really physical and we controlled them in an exceptional way”, he added.
“For two years we’ve been really good and this year we have some problems. It’s normal that the talk starts – I have no problem with that. But the boys showed what they can do.”
The Reds proved it chances after winning 0 – 2 game against RB Leipzig last night.
