Confusion continues to ravage the burial of Ghana’s former president, Jerry John Rawlings as there is still no agreement between family and chiefs over his burial place.
The latest Paramount Chief in the Volta Region to suggest a place for his burial is that for the Tefle Traditional Area, Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII. His appeal is that the former president be buried on one of his properties at Tefle in the Volta Region.
His reason? Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII claims the deceased, had once disclosed to him his desire to be buried on the said property.
Issuing a letter to the public on this development, the chief revealed that Rawlings was a lover of nature and admires water and rivers.
Togbe claims he even dissuaded Rawlings from his wish because of the island he wanted to be buried on is the spillway of the Akosombo dam.
So far, the date for Rawlings’ burial is yet to be announced as arrangements .
Media sources say the family and council of elders in the Volta Region are in disagreement over the funeral arrangement appropriate for him.
