Fire engulfs shops at Madina-Ritz Junction (VIDEO)

Fire erupted at Madina-Ritz Junction in Accra, in the late hours of Tuesday evening, destroying multiple structures.

The inferno started at 11 p.m., according to Ghana National Fire Service officials.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. However, firefighters from various locations within Accra were swiftly mobilized to combat the raging blaze. Power (electricity) was also turned off in the area to enable the firefighters combat the blaze.

Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) revealed that the incident transpired in close proximity to the Madina Fire Station and involved multiple wooden structures.

This marks the second occurrence of a fire incident at the Madina-Ritz junction.

It has since been brought under control as five tenders were deployed in the fight.

There was a heavy police presence to protect lives and property.

No casualties, according to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, were recorded.
