GFA to celebrate Asamoah Gyan in grand style

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has revealed that there are plans to honour former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan following the announcement of his retirement on Tuesday.

Gyan who served Ghana by playing for the Black Stars has etched his name as one of Ghana’s greatest footballers starring in several tournaments and eventually ending up as the nation’s highest top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances.

With six goals in three World Cup tournaments, Gyan holds the record as Africa’s top scorer at the prestigious competition.

Due to his exceptional feats, achieved in football, the announcement of his retirement attracted many tributes from federations, teammates, and former footballers as well as football fans among others.

On the part of the GFA, they will go beyond just paying verbal tribute but meet Gyan, plan, and come out with a massive celebration to honour the 37-year-old.

“He is a true legend. We have congratulated him and he deserves all the accolades for what he has done for all of us in terms of the development of the game and the wonderful memories he has given us over the years,” he said this on Asempa FM.

“However, in terms of what we have to do to celebrate him, we would have to take our time and plan together with him so that it can be done in grand style. So we will engage him and come out.
