An evening of outstanding music performances dubbed the ‘Pat Thomas Highlife Night’ scheduled to come off on Friday, August 4 has been launched to celebrate veteran Highlife musician, Pat Thomas for his years of dedication and hard work to the Ghanaian music industry.

The launch hosted at Alisa Hotel, Ridge, Accra on Monday May 22 was attended by representatives from the creative industry, including the Ghana National Folklore Board, National Commission on Culture(NCC), and  Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Pat Thomas Highlife Night which will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC), will feature classic performances by some of Ghana’s best Highlife artistes such as Kuami Eugene, KK Fosu, Kwabena Kwabena, among others.

In addition to paying tribute to the veteran Highlife act, the concert also aims at providing a stage for up-and-coming Highlife musicians to develop their abilities and network with key people in the creative industry.

Speaking at the launch, a member of the planning committee of the concert, Kwabena Adu Peter revealed that the event is not intended to monetise the works of the veteran musician but geared towards recognising the hard work of his likes who have given a firm foundation for Ghanaian music to gain global recognition.

“We are not seeking to monetise his works, but this event is to celebrate our hero Pat Thomas, as well as honour him for his years of hard work and dedication through the promotion of Highlife music on the world stage,” he said.

Proceeds from the event would be used to set up a music school at Agona in the Ashanti Region where Pat Thomas comes from to train young talents.
