Former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings will be laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Accra today.
After a three-day state funeral that began on Sunday night, the burial of the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings will start.
A funeral ceremony will take place at the State House in Accra, drawing both Western African leaders and the diplomatic corps of the country.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information, has announced the attendance of the Libyan President George Weah.
Julius Maada Bio, president of Sierra Leone, will also join Ghanaians in mourning its longest serving President.
The State funeral is also scheduled to include Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gambia; Dr. Ibn Chambas, Secretary-Special General’s Representative and the Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel; the ECOWAS Commission delegations, Equatorial Guinea and
Nigeria.
