The Ghana Police Service has rescinded an earlier decision to interdict three senior officers involved in the leaked audio recording on a purported plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The Service on Thursday, September 7 announced the interdiction of George Alex Mensah, a Commissioner of Police (COP), Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, a Superintendent, and George Lysander Asare, another Superintendent, over their involvement in the said plot.

The three have already appeared before a bi-partisan probe committee of Parliament set up by the Speaker to, among others, investigate the authenticity of the audio recording.

But a statement issued deep Thursday night said the decision to interdict the three could prejudice the ongoing probe.

“In order not to prejudice the ongoing probe, the Police Administration has suspended their interdiction,” the statement signed by Public Affairs Director ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi said.

But it stressed that the Service will “commence disciplinary proceedings into their conduct upon completion of the ongoing probe by Parliament”.
