Aisha Huang forged marriage and passport documents – Witness tells Court

The second prosecution witness in Aisha Huang’s case testified before the High Court in Accra that the Chinese galamsey queen obtained an indefinite residence permit using a forged Ghanaian passport and marriage certificate.

The witness, Superintendent of Immigration David Essien is attached to the Kumasi Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service and has worked for the service for the past nine years.

He told the Court that Aisha Huang contracted a “supposed marriage to a Ghanaian known as Anthony Fabian”, based upon which she was granted the indefinite residence permit.

Supt. Essien said that investigations showed the documents were forged and submitted in her permit application.

The Ghana Immigration Service’s Comptroller General subsequently revoked the permission on the grounds of fraudulent misrepresentation.

This action, the witness told the court, was in accordance with section 22(2a) of the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).

The witness told the court that Aisha Huang was subsequently repatriated as well on December 19, 2018.

The case continues today, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, for lawyers of Aisha Huang to continue with their cross-examination.
