Police in the Eastern Region has admitted they have not yet taken witness statements of prime suspects in an ambulance robbery incident that occurred last week Thursday.
While the police were being asked to bring perpetrators to book, one of the leading suspects, called Priscilla, said to JoyNews that six days after the incident, the police have failed to contact her.
Speaking on News Nite Wednesday, Acting Eastern Regional Police PRO Francis Gomado told Emefa Apawu they are yet to speak to the victims involved.
“If you should even give all of them, we will still take a statement on all of them but some will find themselves in a place that maybe it will be very difficult to reach them,” he said.
Although he said there were more than 30 victims, not even one person was contacted.
Explaining the reason behind the delay, Mr Gomado who agreed to the death of the driver being alarming said, “it doesn’t lie on the police officer alone to do all.”
Abraham Tetteh, an ambulance driver, was shot several times and a paramedic female was sexually assaulted while a pregnant woman was transferred from Akuse Government Hospital to Koforidua’s Eastern Regional Hospital after suffering complications in labour.
