Parliament ’empty’ as MPs fail to show up third day after resumption

Out of 275 Parliamentary seats in Ghana’s only 28 seats have been occupied by some members of parliament as at 11 am for Thursday, October 24, business.

The reason for their low turnout is unclear yet but it appears some of these people may have sought permission from the house to be absent.

Parliament resumed seating from their break on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 to begin the third meeting of the third session of the seventh Parliament under the Fourth Republic.

Parliament was adjourned Sine Die in July for parliamentarians to visit their various constituencies and to also make time for parliamentary primaries among others.

However on the third day after resumption, some members of parliament are still yet to report. As it stands, only 28 members of parliament are present for Thursday’s business.
