The High Court has issued an injunction prohibiting the funeral of Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, the late Founder and General Overseer of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church. The ruling came in response to a plea from the pastor’s wife, Rev. Mrs. Margaret Boakye, who sought clarification on the matter.

The late Rev. Anthony Boakye passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, after a prolonged illness, which led to several disputes between the widow, his family, and his church. One of such incident occurred during the One-Week Ceremony at the church premises, where Rev. Mrs. Margaret Boakye was denied attendance.

Subsequently, the widow filed a lawsuit at the Kumasi High Court, seeking an injunction on the funeral scheduled for August 5, 2023. She also requested the court’s approval to validate her marriage to the late pastor and asserted her right to perform all the widowhood rites according to tradition.

The statement from Rev. Mrs. Margaret Boakye reveals her side of the events, expressing sadness over the situation that unfolded in the past months. She recounts the timeline of her husband’s illness and the difficulties she faced in visiting him while he was receiving medical care. She highlights that she and Rev. Dr. Anthony Boakye were legally married until his passing and claims her rightful entitlement as a surviving widow to participate in the burial ceremony and observe the widowhood rites without any hindrance.

The statement concludes with a plea to handle all matters with the guidance of their faith in Christ.
