Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Thomas Partey for his performance against Newcastle United, as quoted on BBC Sport.
Partey started for Arsenal in their Premier League game against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Monday evening.
The Ghana international defensive midfielder, who has had injury issues this season and has only just recovered from a thigh injury, was taken off midway through the second half.
After the match, which Arsenal won 3-0, Arteta praised Partey, and added that he will have to protect the 27-year-old former Atletico Madrid star.
BBC Sport quotes Arteta as saying about Partey: “I am really happy. He got better and better as the game went on. He has a big influence and gave us things which were different from any other player. We have to protect him as he’s not played that much.”
