With a move to Legon Cities mooted as his last hurray in what has been an illustrious career, former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is poised for a final payoff in his career.
After signing a long-term contract with the Ghana Premier League club, Gyan, who has played in Italy, England, France, Turkey and the Gulf, is reportedly on the verge of joining Legon Cities.
Gyan’s desire to play in the Ghana League has long been known, and he has said on various occasions that Asante Kotoko, a club he has always sponsored, will be his chosen destination.
But after the two sides struggled to find an agreement on the financial package, a deal to join the Porcupine Warriors broke down.
An agreement between Gyan and Legon Cities has been negotiated, according to Joy Sports, with the official club announcement the only thing left.
Gyan’s management team demanded the signing of Mathew Anim Cudjoe, a teenage star, as part of the contract.
“As he will get an annual salary of $250,000, Gyan will also raise around $1 million in salary over his four-year term,” Joy Sports said on Sunday, October 25.
Since January, after being released by North East United, Gyan has been a free agent, looking for a new club.
