Asante Kotoko have taken over the top spot in the Ghana Premier League after a 2-0 away win over Karela United on Sunday.
Goals from Kwame Opoku and Imoro Ibrahim helped the Porcupine Warriors to three points in the matchday 13 fixture at Aiyinase.
Karela have consequently dropped to the second position on the league table.
The Kumasi-based side have set their sights on winning their first GPL title since 2014.
The Porcupine Warriors made a slow start but had goalkeeper Razak Abalora to thank for not conceding.
They recovered and took the lead few minutes to halftime through Ibrahim Imoro, who fired low just in front of the 18-yard box to beat an outstretched Karela goal keeper. Imoro did not celebrate his goal against his former club.
Kotoko extended their lead courtesy Kwame Opoku after the hour mark. The striker produced a superb finish after beating the offside trap to take his tally to seven goals.
The Porcupine Warriors go top of the league for the first time this season while Karela, who were leaders before kickoff, drop to third in what appears to be one of the most competitive leagues in recent times.
On Monday, Elmina Sharks and Berekum Chelsea will come face to face at the Nduom Sports Stadium in the last fixture of the matchday.
