The Ghana Police Service reported that five people were arrested in connection with the murder of Ekow Quansah Hayford, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency.
The five are taken through lawful processes, according to the Police, to establish more information in the event.
This was included in a thread on the Ghana Police Service’s checked Twitter page.
The post, dated 16 October 2020, read in part, ‘Five people arrested in connection with the assassination of the Mfantseman Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Quansah Hayford’s Ekow.
The Ghana Police Service assured Ghanaians of giving substantive information in due course without offering further information.
… They are taken over by legal policing operations. In due time, more updates will be provided, ”more read the message.
This statement comes scarcely 24 hours after it was revealed that in connection with the issue, two people were arrested.
Police detectives from the Central Regional Police Headquarters, who have been trying to arrest the perpetrators of the act since last Friday, rounded up the suspects.
During an alleged highway robbery operation at the Abeadze Dominase-Abeadze Duadzi-Mankessim Route, the Member of Parliament was shot dead while returning from a campaign trip in the city.
Ekow Hayford was the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Mfantseman Constituency for the forthcoming December elections.
