Ghana has been identified among countries on the continent with a deadly variant in Coronavirus by the African Union Center for Disease Control (CDC).
This has been verified by scientists working on sequencing. They have noted to comment or say anything after the President, Akufo-Addo makes an announcement.
Overall, the latest virus variant is officially found in Ghana, South Africa, Zambia and Botswana.
The Ghana Medical Association has urged the government, in case of recent rises, to reimpose restrictions if not a lockdown.
In the meantime, the Minister ofinformation, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah clarified that if cases continue to increase, a national lockout will occur.
Bernard Oko Boye, former Deputy Minister of Health, told Joy News that the country had submitted the vaccine for the World Health Organization’ s platform for the first time this year. The priority vaccination
list was announced.
“As we speak, there is a technical committee established to look at the criteria for a rollout. Frontline health care workers on the priority risk. Also, the security forces, persons with health conditions and transport operators and teachers because of how they interact with passengers,” he revealed Lockdown Government is under immense pressure to effect a second lockdown.”
The positive rate of Ghana’s Coronavirus continues to increase. The Ghana Medical Association has cautioned against Covid-19 cases overwhelmed by hospitals and intensive care units.
Figures from the Ministry of Health shows a spike in daily numbers since December – this has been linked to indiscipline and flouting of covid-19 protocols.
Already, the Ghana Medical Association has warned the public that “their health is in their own hands” and hospitals get overstretched to deal with the surge of the virus.
