All public health laboratories have been directed by the Ministry of Health not to charge people who walk in for Covid-19 testing.
A statement signed by Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, the Acting Chief Executive, specified that no
fee should be charged to apply for Covid-19 testing following ill health, contact tracing and exposure.
“All other walk-in requests such as ill-health, contact tracing and exposure must be done free of charge using public heath resources,” the letter read.
The directive, however, indicated that travelers are exempted because their testing should be paid for.
“Walk-in services can charge ONLY TRAVELLERS for testing,” the statement said.
Ghana has so far confirmed 63,883 Covid-19 cases with 59,553 recoveries and 390 deaths.
