The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is ready to consider the possibility of welcoming back the newly-elected member of parliament of Fomena Constituency, Andrew Amoako Asiamah.
According to report filed by Citinewsroom, the General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu said, the leadership of the governing party is ready to decide whether to welcome Mr. Asiamah back to the fold.
This comes after Andrew Amoako Asiamah successfully contested his constituency seat as an independent candidate and won the seat.
Prior to this, the former NPP Mr. Asiamah, who won the bid in 2016 to represent the people of Fomena on the ticket of the NPP, lost the 2020 NPP primaries to Philip Ofori-Asante and was sacked from the party.
His sacking came as a result of his decision to still contest as MP instead of simply accepting defeat from the NPP contender that he lost to.
The NDC and NPP have been projected to win exactly 137 seats each in parliament with the last one going to Mr. Asiamah.
Therefore, which ever party Mr. Asiamah decides to join holds the majority in Parliament.
“It is early days yet but if he [Asiamah] clearly shows up to join the party, we will take him through the process and see what can be done about it”, John Boadu explained.
