As Chief Executive of the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reinstated Ms Mary Boatemaa Marfo.
Her nomination was revoked by President Akufo-Addo last week.
It is suspected that the decision was motivated by a tape reported to have been leaked by the help of the DCE in which the appointee is said to be in favour of the skirt and blouse in the Sekyere East elections on 7 December.
Akoma FM investigations tracked one Owusu Nkrumah to the source of the leaked tape, an aid to Mary Boatemaa.
“Yeah, I am the author of the leaked tape,” Owusu admitted on Tuesday 22 September on the morning show of the Kumasi-based radio station, GhanAkoma.
“I have captured and leaked the tape because I have not been handled equally by Mrs. Mary Boatemaa, whom I have worked for many years.”
Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin, the host, asked him about the reason for the DCE recording.
I asked her on whom we could vote because I wanted to know my place and where to cast my vote, but I let the cat out of the bag after some considerations because she was not nice to me, “he replied.”
After this creation, Mr Kwame Adom-Appiah, the new DCE, was nominated for the role.
But a letter dated 24 September 2020, signed by the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kwesi Boateng Adjei, confirmed that the President had withdrawn his decision to revoke the appointment of Ms Boatemaa Marfo.
“I must inform you that the President, His Excellency, has rescinded his decision to revoke Hon Mary Beatrice Marfo ‘s nomination as District Chief Executive of the Sekyere East District Assembly. Any inconvenience incurred is sincerely regretted. In this matter, I foresee your normal cooperation,’ the letter said.
