The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it is now directing all its energies towards organizing Parliamentary primaries for the 2024 election.

The party has announced that it will soon release the dates for primaries in orphan constituencies by the end of the year.

On Saturday, the party elected Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 polls.

The National Organizer of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, told Citi News that the party’s focus is to fill all Parliamentary seats before the 2024 election.

“The next step is that, in the coming days, we will put together a schedule that will also oversee the conduct of the parliamentary primaries. We began with the orphan constituencies, where they have already submitted their forms. They are yet to go through the processes so that we can hold the elections for the orphan constituencies.”

“There were around 18 constituencies, I believe, that went uncontested, so the party organized acclamation processes for them. We have completed that phase. Now, we need to proceed with the remaining constituencies where we haven’t conducted the primaries, and then we will focus on the constituencies with sitting MPs,” he said.
