Presidential candidates for the elections this year are expected to pay GH 100,000 as filing fees to allow them to apply for election participation.
It is also required for Parliamentary candidates to pay GH 10,000.
This was announced at a press conference in Accra on Monday 14 September by the President of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), Ms. Jean Mensa.
The EC Chair also declared that, from Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October, the filing of nomination forms will begin.
She added that from 6:00pm on Monday, the nominating forms would be available on the EC website.
But it is only by special keys that candidates can enter the forms that will be made accessible to the general secretaries of the different political parties.
Independent applicants should use passwords from the Commission’s IT department, stressed Mrs Mensa.
